Charities

These stalls can be found in the church yard. Come and support them!

  • Letters To Finlay

We sell beautiful, in house designed greetings cards, gifts and homeware to support the charity Tommy’s.  Tommy’s funds research into miscarriage, still birth and premature birth to help try to save more babies’ lives.  It is a charity that is close to our heart.

  • Shelterbox

The Charity ShelterBox exists to ensure that no one is without shelter after earthquake, flood, hurricane, war or disaster. We won’t stop until we see a world where no family goes without shelter after having lost everything.

We provide large tents, solar lighting, water purifying tablets, cooking utensils etc. Our volunteers reach places across mountains by foot or donkey and rivers in canoes – everywhere in whatever way they can.

There are over 100 million people around the world who have been made homeless by disasters and conflict, with recent wars and floods adding to the numbers.

My sales of knitted ‘unique animals’ helps a little towards this extremely necessary charity.  At our stall we also demonstrate the traditional art of
    Chair Caning.

  • Joss Searchlight

Joss Searchlight is a children’s cancer charity (registered with The Charity Commission no. 1141704). We are a family support charity providing emotional and practical support to families affected by a child’s cancer via our ‘It’s Good to Talk’ programme. We offer support via our Helpline, Support Meetings (social & group advisory) and via an Online Support Group. We enable vulnerable voices to be heard through our film work and awareness campaigns.

We also grant magical wishes for the children. We are raising funds for family holidays through a New Toy Tombola (mainly Lego and Disney toys) and selling plants (mainly house plants and sunflowers for Ukraine). Thank you for supporting us. www.josssearchlight.org.uk.

  • RNLI

RNLI requires a huge amount of money every year to fund its own mission, To Save
Everyone at Sea and this year is rather special as it is our Bicentennial year!
The cost of a modern All Weather Lifeboat is approximately £3M. These boats are needed
along the whole coastline of the UK and Ireland as well as Ridged Lifeboats for rocky inlets
where the larger boats cannot reach. Many of us go to the seaside or are sailors ourselves
and know what amazing life-saving work the RNLI do.
Stop at our information stall in the churchyard to find out more and pick up freebies for
    children.

  • World Challenge Borneo 2025

We are fundraising for our World Challenge trip to Borneo in July 2025 where we will be helping local communities, learning about orangutan conservation and conservation of the local habitats. We will also be undertaking a week long trek in the jungle.

We will be hosting ‘Pull up’ and ‘How long can you hang’ challenges where you can see if you can have a winning score. There will be prizes at the end of the day.

We will also be selling our bird boxes and bird feeders that we have made, and doing a guess the number of sweets in the jar.  All money raised will go to support our fundraising.

We look forwards to seeing you there.

  • The Hospice of St Francis

The Hospice of St Francis cares for over 2000 local people. We help patients who are managing or recovering from serious illness. Our care takes many forms; we can help patients in their own home or here at the Hospice through 1:1 appointments or group sessions (anything from physio, to nursing support and mindfulness, to complementary therapy) in our Spring Centre or through 24-7 care in our beds.

Our stall is run by long-standing volunteers and we sell a range of homeware, seasonal items and gifts. 100% of the profits goes towards our special hospice care.

  • Tring Lions

Tring Lions are dedicated volunteers who have been serving the community since 1973. Our members, male and female, come from all walks of life but who share a common goal of supporting our community. Our club is part of an international organisation.

Tring Lions work hard to improve our local community by identifying what needs to be done and then doing something about it. Locally this could be supporting local causes for the elderly and other vulnerable people, supporting the young people through school projects or planning projects that will help the local environment.

Come to our churchyard stall to Hook-a-duck and Hook-a-cuddle toy and find out more!

  • Camps International Cambodia 2024

We are fundraising for our trip to Cambodia in July. We will be working with a rural community helping to build schools and homes and install water.
You can support our fundraising by playing Splat the Rat or the Wheel of Fortune, or having a go on our teddy tombola or lucky dip.

  • World Challenge Vietnam 2024

In July we (Bella, Phoebe and Lily) are going to venture to Vietnam, a country rich in culture that we are excited to learn more about. During our month in Vietnam we will be helping local communities by building a nursery for young children to have the same opportunities as we enjoy. We will also be hiking to stay with hill tribes to help with the farm work and infrastructure.

We are looking forward to holding a stall at the May Fair and hope you will enjoy our delicious sweet treats!
