Friends of Aldbury School

We would like to welcome each and every one of you to the 2024 Aldbury May Fair! We hope you all have a wonderful afternoon, enjoying all that is on offer, whether you have come from near or far.

There are so many exciting activities and fabulous stalls to visit throughout the afternoon. The fair will kick off with the traditional parade through the village, followed by the crowning of the May Queen. It will be delightful to see the children of Aldbury Primary school dancing around the Maypole, and of course the Morris Men dancing in the village as well. It is these traditions that make the Aldbury May Fair so special, having taken place for over 150 years.

The fair itself is organised and run entirely by volunteers, and it would be impossible to mention them all. Please know that we are hugely grateful for everyone’s support and hard work both on the day itself and during the many months leading up to the fair. It literally could not happen without all of those who have given up their time and energy to help. This year in particular we would like to thank Sophie Ficek for taking on the overall organisation of the fair, but we know she would be the first to say that she is one of many people who have been a part of making the day a success. Thank you all!

We would also like to say a massive thank you to the very generous local sponsors who ensure we can continue to put on this event – your support is greatly appreciated.

Enjoy the afternoon, and remember that the May Fair raises much-needed funds for many local charities and village groups, including of course our local primary school.

On behalf of the children, staff and fundraising committee of Aldbury Primary School (Friends of Aldbury School – FOAS) we would like to say a huge thank you for supporting our May Fair. Have a fantastic afternoon!
